This artwork consists of an autoclave hanging on the wall. The autoclave is filled with sand and toy soldiers. The flow of sand went partially through the holes in the container. The movement of the sand is a metaphor for the passing of time, like in an hourglass.
The soldiers cause an obstruction like war obstructs a natural passing of time. War is of all times, so soldiers of all times are represented. Amongst them are Romans, cowboys, foreign legion soldiers, Germans, Vikings, Americans and cowboys. What unites them is the colour of blood, what divides them is almost always too absurd for words.
The autoclave is used in hospitals to clean medical equipment. Less victims of wars should need the refuge of a hospital, if the ones who cause the wars should be hospitalised for mental healthcare.
