Obviously a simplistic reproduction of the ongoing process of evolution. The embryos eat their own tail (Uroboros) and the marbles form a circle on a meatdish, both expressions of the circularity of processes. An umbilical cord seems to be embedded in the glass and connects the glass through the dish with the earth.
