For the sculpture garden "Ravesteyn" I made a site specific work using an existing tree as part of the installation. The work is in memory of the refugees at see taking on the risky trip trying to get to Europe. For most of them it is not a choice, but the only way to survive. A small boat with an out of proportion big figurehead to enforce a safe journey. No woodcarving, but the original tree as a grip to life. The boat is connected to the tree with a bandage with fists as variant to the Hamsa with Nazar. The Hamsa are not adequate to the weather conditions and started their slow decay. The medieval fortress in the garden is the promised land.
